The Anglo-German Family History Society was founded in 1987 to help people research their German ancestry in the UK and on the Continent. We produce many booklets and research guides. These cover lots of topics including German institutions in the UK, occupations such as sugar-bakers and pork-butchers, and alien internment during WW1. They also explain how to go about finding records, as well as providing draft letters in German. We have indexes that hold information on more than 500,000 German people who lived and worked in Britain, compiled from many sources including the registers of German churches and ship landing records.

Meetings
The society holds meetings every other month on a Saturday. They are held at a venue in central London and members can also watch live via Zoom. The February and August meetings are Zoom-only.
The meetups feature talks by guest speakers and cover a wide range of subjects, either connected directly to German research or family history in general.
