Following the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II we were made very aware of the high regard in which Her Late Majesty was held by those abroad.

The chief representative for Metzingen's town partnership, Dr Fritz Kemmler, was quoted in the Süddeutsche Zeitung, "... together with our friends in Hexham we mourn the death of a great and exemplary person....At the same time we hope in Metzingen that the spirit of reconciliation that Queen Elizabeth presented will continue its influence on the friendly relations between our towns..."
